ABUSE/NEGLECT/MISTREATMENT
Provides and overview of the regulatory standards governing clinical practice in long term care settings. Clinical case examples are used as illustrations of the respective concepts. A consideration of staff “stress and burnout” is discussed.
RESIDENT'S RIGHTS
Using a group discussion with a case example format, the comprehensive list of these regulatory standards is thoroughly examined.
QUALITY OF LIFE :
CONFIDENTIALITY/PRIVACY/DIGNITY & RESPECT
Through role-play scenarios and group exercises an illustration of these important aspects of resident living and treatment are explored.
WORKPLACE VIOLENCE
Using current O.S.H.A. guidelines this program identifies techniques for preventing and effectively managing this prominent issue. Specific recommendations for safe facility management are suggested.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT

ALZHEIMER'S DEMENTIA
Explores the various clinical features associated with issues of cognitive impairment. Respective types of dementia are examined in consideration of specific clinical interventions available.
COMMUNICATION/SENSITIVITY TRAINING
Through experiential role play scenarios and case examples staff participants are provided valuable insight and a heightened awareness of the “experience of disability” being experienced by those individuals for whom they provide care.
HUMAN SEXUALITY
Presents a useful overview of sexual behavioral issues that occurs between individuals in placement settings. Proposes helpful intervention strategies and considerations for “informed consent”.
DEPRESSION
Explores the various clinical symptom features of this disorder while considering clinical intervention strategies for treatment.
